Vincent Metzo here welcoming you to Low Tech High Effect. On this site I’ll discuss physical culture related topics like equipment, tools, training methods and techniques as well as other items of interest to the physical culturist.

What is “Physical Culture” you ask?

Well, according to Wikipedia, “Physical culture is a health and strength training movement that originated during the 19th century in Germany, England, and the United States.”¬†That’s a good start. See more from Wikipedia here.

Low tech tools and methods for training/exercise require an in depth understanding of the underlying principles so that they can render the highest effect. Just because something is high tech, doesn’t mean it will have the highest effect. Many of the old, low tech tools and methods are the most effective but, only if one understands the principles.

Here’s one of my favorite¬†quotes that speaks to this point.

“Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it. The man who knows how will always have a job. The man who also knows why will always be his boss. As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
